"Let Her Go" by Brian D.

Offered her the world. She said she had her own.”
― Monique Duval

We are very excited to finally post this four image mini series entitled "Let Her Go"... Pick up a copy of the Local Foxes Magazine July release to see a few of these in print. There are tons of other amazing articles on local talents nationwide.

It's like your screaming but no one can hear. You almost feel ashamed that someone could be so important to you that without them you feel like nothing. No one will ever understand how much it hurts.

This is a love story about a girl who had to say goodbye to an intense relationship and lover. Why did she have to say goodbye? She was in a constant battle with her hometown and the one she fell in love with. But in the end she had to follow her heart. Her passion and love for something bigger and greater than herself...the city she lived in.

Inspired by Passenger's song "Let Her Go".

Location: These images were shot at the Montgomery Riverfront Park

"Bridal Shoot" by Brian D.

It isn't every day that you get to shoot your own beautiful wife for a bridal shoot. However, this past week I thought it would be a great way to celebrate our anniversary.

This shoot was shot entirely with my Canon 6D and Canon 135mm f2.0 prime lens. We were blessed with a beautiful winter day in Alabama and it made for a wonderful mini series. I usually prefer to shoot in the afternoon to early evening but for this I wanted to attempt to chase the morning light to capture a clean feel with warm overall tones, but still slight blueish tones in my shadows and midtones.

Prior to coming up with the concept of pulling the old wedding dress out of the closet, I never thought I would have any interest in shooting anything related to the wedding industry. However, I would say that after doing this mini series that changed slightly. I could see my self playing in this area again. But we shall see where my inspiration takes me next.

The quote from Robert Fulghum below was truly the inspiration of this shoot.

"I believe that imagination is stronger than knowledge. That myth is more potent than history. That dreams are more powerful than facts. That hope always triumphs over experience. That laughter is the only cure for grief. And I believe that love is stronger than death." - Robert Fulghum

"Experience" by Brian D.

Part 1 - Finding New in Old

Sometimes you meet someone, and it’s so clear so immediately that the two of you, on some level, belong together. As lovers, or as friends, or as family, or as something entirely different.

You just work, whether you’re in love or creating things together…It’s so clear, right off the bat, that this is what you’re supposed to be doing, that this is what you’re for. You meet these people throughout your life, out of nowhere, under the strangest of circumstances, and they help you make a life. I don’t know if that makes me believe in coincidence, or fate, or sheer blind luck, but. It definitely makes me believe in something.”

The first part of this story isn’t only about the photographs, it is about me and my journey.

There are doors that sometimes open in your life for one reason or another. This weekend I had the pleasure of working with American Fine Art Photographer Rob Woodcox Photography, the talented artists Marjorie Jean Anderson & Amy DeCal, and my wonderful soulmate Chrystal Holt. The time spent with them has been filled with chemistry, passion, spirituality, and love. It served as the culmination of my passions that have been growing over the last few years. It taught me the importance of the individual and more importantly the story behind each individual. In turn teaching me the true meaning of humility. How all the pieces come together to create something greater then you could ever create by yourself.

Special thanks to Sheila Dicks and Jim Dicks for letting us shoot all day at Joy Haven Farm. See more of Rob's work at http://robwoodcox.com or mine atwww.holtconnections.com.
